At Buoyant Wellness, all coaching is done by Coach Sudha Gopal, who has been certified by both the NBHWC (National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching) and also by FMCA (Functional Medicine Coaching Academy). She explains her coaching approach below.
Your Partner in Your Journey to Wellness
To help you achieve your goals, my approach is to work with you as your partner in your journey towards that end. In addition to my experience as a health coach, I also bring to you my experience working more than two decades in the technology industry. I use a holistic approach to healing, founded firmly on Functional Medicine principles. The term ‘holistic’ means treatment of the person as a whole, taking into account mental, social and physical factors.
As a partner in your journey, we will explore together your wellness from a holistic standpoint – acknowledging that diet, movement, sleep, relaxation, life satisfaction, mental and emotional fitness are all contributors to health and wellness.
There is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to coaching. Coaching is individualized to you – based on where you are now and your vision of where you want to be. I use the core principles of coaching and positive psychology to help my clients go deeper and discover what could the causing some of the issues and what is holding them back from overcoming the issues. I help them leverage their own strengths and be their own best advocate.
You and I will work together to determine your unique needs, explore your vision for your mind and body health, set goals and create an action plan to achieve them. This will involve identifying a pathway for you to reach your goal in small, incremental steps – building on small wins. We will figure out ways to break through challenges, find your inner strength, and build motivation to make sustainable changes.
As the coach, my role will be to guide you, inspire you and challenge you to go beyond what you would have done alone. As the client, achieving your goals will require you to commit and do the necessary work to make progress towards them. You should be prepared to make this commitment.

What is the Functional Medicine Approach?
The Functional Medicine approach is not a short-term pre-packaged diet or exercise program. It is a change to your lifestyle which ensures that each change works for you so that you can stick with it over time. You learn to listen to your own body, and to make new choices or adjustments when needed. This will involve reviewing all the pillars of health – nutrition, movement, sleep, relaxation, stress management, emotional and mental fitness to understand where you are and what changes are necessary to get to where you need to be.
“Functional Medicine is deeply science-based. The latest research shows us that what happens within us is connected in a complicated network or web of relationships. Understanding those relationships allows us to see deep into the functioning of the body.”
– Will Cole, DC
Functional medicine focuses on the ‘whole person’ and addresses health issues by determining the root cause of illnesses. As a functional medicine coach, I will look at lifestyle, nutrition and natural interventions as a primary method of prevention and reversal.
